Frankfurt, 3 August 2026 - formicon, a Triton Smaller Mid-Cap Fund II portfolio company and a nationwide group of architecture and engineering firms, is expanding its service offering to include structural engineering and strengthening its capabilities in electrical design and energy technology. The nationwide general planning firm continues its growth trajectory by adding two renowned engineering firms: engineering team Trebes and electrical planning specialist Taube + Goerz.
Both companies bring unique expertise and outstanding project references, including in the strategic target markets of healthcare construction, research, and education. They complement formicon's interdisciplinary planning profile. Through this combination, the formicon Group grows to more than 550 employees across 20 locations, strengthening its position as one of Germany's most capable general planning firms for integrated design.
One of Northern Germany's largest independent structural engineering firms, with strong growth ambitions, is now part of the formicon Group. Headquartered in Kiel, with additional locations in Hamburg, Flensburg, Rendsburg, and Rostock, engineering team Trebes employs around 100 people. Trebes counts industrial clients and public sector clients among its customer portfolio. Its focus lies on large-scale civil engineering projects, defense, hospitals, laboratories, schools and universities, as well as power plants and administrative, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Trebes' reference portfolio ranges from flagship healthcare projects such as the "Super Hospital" university clinic in Aarhus to award-winning engineering structures like the Lautrupsbachtal Bridge. A notable example of forward-looking timber construction is the Louisenlund boarding school, which received the BDA Prize.
With the addition of Taube + Goerz from Hanover, the formicon Group also gains an engineering firm specialising in electrical building design. Around 30 highly qualified employees will strengthen the Group's capabilities in the consulting, design, and monitoring of electrical and energy technology, lighting, safety, communication, and media technology, as well as the integration of renewable energy. Taube + Goerz's specialists bring more than 30 years of experience in the planning and renovation of complex laboratory buildings through to sensitive, heritage-protected structures.
formicon was founded in January 2026 with the aim of building a German market leader that covers all service phases of planning and construction projects, thereby contributing to more efficient, future-proof, and responsible construction.
To date, a total of 8 planning firms from the fields of architecture, construction management, building services engineering, and structural engineering have joined the formicon Group, with the shared vision of offering clients the entire planning spectrum from a single source, while maintaining regional proximity.
