New Publication "The Future of Medicine" explores disruptive new health concepts
Frankfurt / Berlin (Germany), 22. May 2019 - Dr. Ing. Jasper zu Putlitz, an Operating Partner at Triton, and Prof. Dr. med. Erwin Böttinger, Founding Director of the Digital Health Center at the Hasso Plattner Institute, address the effects of the digital revolution on the healthcare sector in their new publication "The Future of Medicine".
Along with a preface by Hasso Plattner, "The Future of Medicine" outlines radical changes in the field of medicine and health while providing new ways of caring for patients in the age of big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and robotics. More than 50 international healthcare professionals describe the status quo in terms of research and medical care and demonstrate how digitization will revolutionize the entire healthcare system. Digital developments are forecasted transform hospitals and medical practices over the coming decades.
New cancer therapies as well as surgery in the digital environment, operations in the genome, nano-systems in diagnostics, microbiome research and the future care of people with chronic diseases among other things are described.
"Experts estimate that about 75% to 80% of healthcare costs are caused by chronic diseases. Innovative and effective approaches for the treatment of chronically ill people have thus far not widely prevailed in this Germany. The area of new technologies could especially ensure significantly better care for these patients,” explains publisher and co-author Jasper zu Putlitz, Operating Partner at Triton.
Further topics explored in "Future of Medicine" include ethical and data protection framework conditions. The publication is more than 400 pages and has just been published in German by the Medizinisch Wissenschaftliche Verlagsgesellschaft, Berlin.
